Metal roofing in Southwest Florida

FarFan Contractors installs standing seam and 5V metal roofs on homes in Lee, Charlotte, and Sarasota counties, other areas on request. We help you decide whether metal fits your house and your budget before you commit.

Is it right for you

When a metal roof makes sense

  • You plan to stay in the house for a long time
  • You like the clean lines of standing seam
  • You want a roof that reflects more sun. Lighter, reflective finishes can help keep the attic cooler
  • Part of the roof has a low slope where shingles won't work. Standing seam can go on lower slopes than shingles

Metal usually costs more up front than shingles. If you plan to sell soon or the budget is tight, a shingle roof, or Roof Shield Rejuvenation on a qualifying shingle roof, may be the better spend. We'll tell you if we think so.

What we do

How we install a metal roof

  1. Measure and plan. We inspect the existing roof and decking and measure for panels and trim.
  2. Choose the panel and color. We go over profiles, finishes, and colors that suit the house and how close it is to the water.
  3. Tear off and dry in. Old roof off, decking repaired, underlayment installed.
  4. Install panels and trim. Panels, flashing, and trim installed to Florida code, then inspected and walked with you.

Two systems

Standing seam vs 5V

Standing seam (what we recommend)

Panels lock together at raised seams, and the fasteners are hidden under the seams. With no screws through the face of the roof, there are fewer places for water to get in and less to check over time. It's the metal system we recommend for most homes.

5V crimp

Panels with five V-shaped ridges, fastened with screws through the face of the panel. Each screw has a washer that seals the hole, and those washers need checking over time. We install 5V too, and we'll tell you honestly if it fits your house and plans.

Both go over a repaired deck and new underlayment, and both are installed to Florida code. We walk you through the two on your roof before you choose.

Options

Choosing the details

Coastal lots

Near salt water, the panel material, the finish, and the fasteners matter more. We match them to the house's location.

Color and finish

Lighter, reflective colors stay cooler. Browse the metal colors in our roofing colors library.

How we work

Our process, step by step

  1. 01

    Inspect & measure

On-site look at decking, flashing, ventilation, and the existing covering. Measurements for panels and trim.

  2. 02

    Choose the system

Panel profile, finish, and color. If another roof is the smarter spend for your plans, we say so.

  3. 03

    Permit, dry-in, finish

Permits pulled, old covering off, decking repaired, underlayment and metal installed to Florida code.

  4. 04

    Inspect & close out

Building department sign-off, a walkthrough, and the paperwork.

Questions we hear first

It depends on how long you'll stay and what you want to spend. Metal usually costs more up front than shingles. Installed correctly, it holds up well to sun and rain, and reflective finishes can help with heat. If you plan to move soon, another roof may fit better.

From our jobs

Recent work

“We had an older tile roof and wanted to switch to a metal roof that would last for years and hold up to future storms. It was very easy dealing with Steve from start to finish. He made the whole process simple and stress-free, which we really appreciated since we don’t know much about roofing. The new roof looks amazing, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. We’re glad we made the switch and feel much better knowing we have a roof we can count on for years to come. We’re very happy with the finished job and would definitely recommend Steve and his team to anyone looking to replace their roof!”
