Roofing in Bonita Springs: what to know

Bonita Springs is its own city in Lee County, with its own Community Development Department. The city requires a permit for roofing, and it says plainly that this includes shingle-over-shingle work. Its trade permit form also notes that tile can be changed to shingle, but shingle can't be changed to tile without an engineer's approval.

That last rule matters if you're thinking about tile. Tile is much heavier than shingles, so the framing has to be checked first. We look at that before we quote a switch.

  • Tile repairs and underlayment replacement under existing tile
  • City of Bonita Springs permitting and inspections handled with the job

What we do

Roof work we do in Bonita Springs

Roof repair

Leaks, lifted shingles, cracked tile, loose flashing. We find the cause, then fix that. See roof repair.

Re-roofs

Full replacement in shingle, tile, or metal, with permits and inspections handled with the job.

Roof inspection

A condition check of the covering, flashing, decking, and attic, with a photo report. See roof inspection.

On a sound asphalt shingle roof that is aging, ask about Roof Shield Rejuvenation. We evaluate first and tell you if a re-roof is the smarter spend. For a ballpark on replacement, try the Instant Roof Cost Estimate.

Before you hire anyone

A few checks that take five minutes

  • Look up the roofer's license on the Florida DBPR license search. FarFan's roofing license is CCC1330892.
  • Ask whose name will be on the permit. It should be the licensed contractor doing the work.
  • Get the scope in writing: tear-off or overlay, underlayment, decking repair, flashing, and cleanup.
  • Be careful with door-to-door roofing offers after a storm. Take a name and a license number, then check them yourself.

Questions we hear first

Yes. The City of Bonita Springs requires a permit for roofing, including shingle-over-shingle. We don't recommend shingle roof-overs in most cases anyway, because the old layer hides the decking. See shingle roofing.
