Inside city limits, roof permits go through the City of Venice Building Division. The city says contractors must register with the city before pulling permits, and a re-roof doesn't need plan review unless it's a residential property above the city's set valuation.

The city says all exterior alterations there must meet the district's architectural rules, and all color changes must meet its color requirements. A new roof color can count. Before you hire anyone
A few checks that take five minutes
- Look up the roofer's license on the Florida DBPR license search. FarFan's roofing license is CCC1330892.
- Ask whose name will be on the permit. It should be the licensed contractor doing the work.
- Get the scope in writing: tear-off or overlay, underlayment, decking repair, flashing, and cleanup.
